The XIX Raíces del Chaco International Chess Tournament, which took place in Yacuiba, had as winners the Maestro Fide (MF) from La Paz Alfredo Cruz, in the absolute category; and Zuleyka García from Tarijain the ladies category.
In the event, which took place in the Municipal Railway Complex, 44 thinkers from Bolivia and Argentina participatedand distributed a purse of 10,000 bolivianos in prizes.
The tournament was held under the Swiss system, in which each competitor played eight games, of 25 minutes plus 10 seconds for each move.
Cruz accumulated 6.5 points and tied with Rodrigo Mendoza from Tarija, but due to the tiebreaker system, La Paz took first place.
For third place, there was also equality in points between Yacuibeño Roly Romero and Argentine Fernando Torres, who accumulated six units, but the Bolivian was favored in the tiebreaker system and climbed to the podium.
in ladies, Zuleyka García took over the title by getting five points. The second position went to Adriana Canaviri who added 4.5 units; and third place went to Isabela Kilibarda with four points. The complete podium was tarijeño.
