The president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, assured that “the world will unite in Qatar to celebrate a peaceful, wonderful and unforgettable event”, during the launch ceremony of the volunteer program for the next World Cup held in Doha.
“Volunteers are the heart and soul of the FIFA World Cup. Their faces and smiles welcome all the people who come to Qatar. Thanks to them, we will be able to show the world that Qatar, the Gulf region and the entire Arab countries are looking forward to receiving citizens from all over the planet in November and December for an incredible experience. The world will come together in Qatar to celebrate a peaceful, wonderful and unforgettable event,” he said.
Infantino participated in the Katara Amphitheater in Doha in a ceremony that opened the application process to become one of the 20,000 volunteers that Qatar will have in 2022, which was attended by 3,500 potential candidates.
Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, Minister of Sports and Youth, Salah Bin Ghanem Al Ali, Secretary General of the Supreme Committee for the Organization and Legacy of Qatar 2022, Hassan Al Thawadi, Secretary General of FIFA, Fatma Samoura , and the Australian Tim Cahill, ambassador of the Legacy of Qatar, were other attendees.
“Being a volunteer during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 means that you are the heart, the soul, the smile of the World Cup”, Thanks to you, we can show the whole world that Qatar, the Gulf, the entire Middle East and the entire Arab world they are welcoming the world to an incredible experience here in November and December of this year,” added Infantino.
FIFA recalled that those interested in entering the Qatar volunteer program can send their application to the email volunteer.FIFA.com and that places are open to people from all over the world. Speaking English will be required and knowledge of Arabic will be valued.
“This is the first FIFA World Cup of its kind; the first in our beautiful country and in the region. We want to use the power of football to open the door to a world of experiences like no other. This edition of the FIFA World Cup is a wonderful opportunity to share Qatar’s unique identity and create experiences to connect the global community,” said Al Thawadi.
The World Cup in Qatar will be held from November 21 to December 18 and volunteers will provide support in 45 functional areas and locations such as stadiums, training fields, fan zones, the airport, hotels and transport stations public.
