MADRID, Spain.- The renowned Cuban baseball player Alexander Malleta recently offered statements about the inclusion of emigrated baseball players in Team Cuba to the World Classic of Baseball, as well as on the decision of the athletes who decide to continue their career outside the Island.

In an interview with the sports media Play Off Magazine The industrialist said that all those with the required quality should be summoned.

“I am not against that. I don’t know if some more than others can be given an asterisk as to why they can’t play, but that’s how the world works. When a Clásico comes, everyone joins their team and I am not very aware of any detail in which they can say no, but I see that everyone joins, it is normal, ”he pointed out.

Regarding the players who have decided to emigrate to the United States, including some very close to him such as Rudy Reyes or Carlos Tabares, he declared: “You always have my support. As long as they are looking for the best for themselves and their family, they will have my support. They were partners and I think we became brothers. We spent the whole year together, I was happy and I’m glad they’re doing well in life”.

Asked about his decision to remain in Cuba, despite having received offers to play abroad, he mentioned that “in his youth he thought very differently.”

“People did not have those things in their minds and I was one of those of that generation. Nobody wants to leave their country, people do it to be better for themselves and their family, but it never crossed my mind, ”he explained.

Alexander Malleta, who made his debut as first baseman for the Industriales team in 1995, hit 257 home runs during his active stage and drove in 1,211 runs in national tournaments. He was a three-time National Champion (1996, 2006, 2010) and was the Most Valuable Player for the Industriales in 2010.
