The vice president of the Tunisian League for Human Rights, Najat Zemmouri, reported on the nomination of Venezuelan diplomat Alex Saab for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Zemmouri pointed out that this initiative is due to the fact that Saab, despite being prohibited by US sanctions, contributed to the acquisition of food and medicine for Venezuela.
“It is a personal initiative based on the analysis of this person’s file, and that file indicates that he exposed himself to danger, to obtain food products and medicines from Iran, a country that is in strong disagreement with the United States,” he said, quoted by the Venezuelan News Agency.
This type of actions, detailed the vice president of the organization; they describe Saab as a person who fought “for peace” peacefully.
“He is a person who fights for peace, he peacefully tried as a citizen to maintain social peace and even world peace, and therefore, I personally see him as a true recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize,” he stressed.
Similarly, he called on the Arab and non-Arab communities to focus on the issue of alex saabin an attempt to know the truth and not hide it.
“We feel that there is a media blackout regarding the Alex Saab case,” he said.
Alex Saab was illegally detained in June 2020 in Cape Verde on orders from the United States. During his detention in this country, he was tortured and held incommunicado. Subsequently, on October 16, 2021, he was extradited to the United States.
