MIAMI, United States. — The Cuban influencer Alex Otaola presented this Sunday his campaign image for mayor of Miami-Dade County, whose elections will be held next year.
Otaola made the pitch in social networksin which he also announced his slogan: “We are going to do it differently”.
The Cuban presenter had announced in June 2022 that he would run for mayor of Miami-Dade, although he assured on that occasion that the position was not on his agenda of personal desires.
“I am running for county mayor. I’m not interested, it’s not part of my plans, but I’m going to do it, I have to, and we’re going to start changing things,” said the influencer during a broadcast of his program Hello, Ota-Ola.
The presenter assured that he would present his candidacy for mayor of Miami to “get the communists out of Miami” and “close the businesses that launder money from the dictatorship in Miami.”
“We are going to promote the laws that have to be promoted, work with the lawyers that have to be worked on, build what has to be built and what has to be modified will be modified,” added the presenter.
Otaola also assured that, if elected by the voters, he would eliminate trips to Cuba, as well as the travel agencies that operate by sending parcels, remittances and recharges.
“I am going to say it clearly: if you do not want the trips to Cuba, the agencies, to end the impudence, do not vote for me, because if I win I will do absolutely everything so that this city, this county, not a single dollar goes out to feed the dictatorship, not a single ship goes out, not a single orange is sold”.
On March 1, Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava announced her bid for re-election in 2024 and immediately went to the Elections Department to register her candidacy.
Levine Cava was elected as the first woman mayor of Miami-Dade County in November 2020, against the then candidate and current mayor of Hialeah, Esteban Bovo.
