Different organizations such as the General Directorate of the Maritime Territory and Merchant Marine (Directamar) and the Chilean Meteorological Directorate have issued alerts for weather events in recent days that involve different parts of the country.
In the case of storm surges, the Directamar announcement was for various coastal regions this weekend. The meteorological phenomenon would occur between the Arica and Parinacota region to the Aysén region, including the island of Juan Fernández.
The waves are expected to be in a southwesterly direction, which would be caused by the passage of a frontal system in the southern zone of Chile.
Thus, the tidal waves would begin in the south on the afternoon of Saturday, November 19, and in the north on Sunday the 20th. Ending between Monday the 21st and Tuesday the 22nd of the same month.
Regarding high temperatures, the Chilean Meteorological Directorate has already issued two warnings for nine regions of the country that are valid until this Friday, November 18.
In the northern zone, the places affected by heat waves are the foothills of the Antofagasta and Atacama regions, to the latter is added the pampas. And temperatures of up to 33°C are expected.
From the Coquimbo region to the Bío Bío, an alert was also issued for high temperatures that will reach a maximum of 30°C in mountainous areas.
In addition, for the southern part of the country, the alerts have been for possible electrical storms that are expected for the Magallanes and Aysén regions.
This throughout the day on Saturday, November 19, as rain and temperatures between 5 and 11 degrees are forecast.
