In an extraordinary session, the Legislative Assembly of Rio de Janeiro (Alerj) decided by 42 votes in favor to 21 against the release of the president removed from Casa Rodrigo Bacellar (União Brasil). There were two abstentions, out of the 65 deputies present.
The state representative Rodrigo Bacellar was preventively arrested on Wednesday morning (3)during Operation Nail and Flesh, launched by the Federal Police (PF), to investigate the leak of confidential information about the Operation Zargun, which arrested state deputy TH Joias. TH Joias has been in prison since September, accused of intermediating the purchase and sale of weapons for the Red Command.
The action took place while Bacellar was giving a statement at the Federal Police headquarters, in Rio de Janeiro, as ordered by the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes.
Bacellar is suspected of being involved in passing on information that would have anticipated details of the operation targeting state deputy TH Joias.
According to the PF, the leak compromised the progress of the investigations that resulted in the arrest of TH Joias.
