Toledo: “I never met alone with Jorge Barata”

During the trial, the former president claimed to have never met with Jorge Barata, who was a director of Odebrecht in Peru. He also said that he had never been present at Proinversión meetings, that those in charge of those projects were the Ministers of Economy and Transportation. This is after prosecutor José Domingo said that Jorge Barata was in the Government Palace up to 10 times during Toledo’s mandate.

The trial for the Interoceánica Sur case will continue next Monday and more evidence and testimonies will be presented. The Public Ministry has requested twenty years and five months in prison for the former president.
