The Minister of Labor, Alejandro Salas, referred to the meeting that the Executive Power had with the members of the High Level Group of the Organization of American States (OAS) to discuss the political crisis in the country.
During his participation in the ceremony for the installation of the million and a half natural gas connection of Lima and Callao, the member of the ministerial cabinet highlighted that in conversation with the OAS, President Pedro Castillo stated that he seeks unity, dialogue and consensus in favor of the country.
“During the meeting that we held in the morning with the OAS mission visiting Peru, President Pedro Castillo has only asked for unity, dialogue, consensus and rapprochement to move forward with the problems that the country has”, he stressed.
For his part, on his social networks, the Head of State indicated that he has told the mission that some sectors are looking for “endanger democracy” hitting his management.
“I have received the OAS High Level Group so that they know what is happening in Peru and how some sectors want to endanger the democracy and stability of the country with lies to hit a management focused on working for progress and equality for all”, he wrote earlier on his Twitter account.
OAS Mission
The visit of the OAS mission takes place after the request of the government of Pedro Castillo to activate the Inter-American Democratic Charter by alleging that the constitutional complaint filed by the National Prosecutor’s Office against him represented a “threat to democracy”.
The working group also met this Monday with the president of the Judiciary, Elvia Barriosand with the head of Congress, Joseph Williams. During the afternoon, she also held a dialogue with the National Prosecutor, Patricia Benavides.
