“We must contribute to strengthening awareness, because February 27 is a milestone in history. We are historical subjects and we are obliged to divulge in the collective memory that speaks to us of a historical time when the Bolivarian Revolution arose”, thus summed up the director of the Simón Bolívar Study Center and Venezuelan historian, Alexander Lopez.
The statements were offered in the conversation held this Wednesday, in the Bolivar Space 21from the Casa de Nuestra América José Martí, in Caracas, where the causes and consequences of the social outbreak of February 27, 1989, when the Venezuelan people rebelled against the neoliberal policies of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
“February 27 reveals what the form of government was like, the political, economic, social, and cultural model of puntofijismo, in the fourth republic in Venezuela,” López explained..
