congressman Alexander Cavero (Avanza País) announced the presentation of a constitutional reform bill to recall the mandate of the President of the Republic, peter castledue to the social and political crisis in the country.
In statements to journalists, he indicated that said legislative proposal does not include congressmen and that there are two ways to do so: approve it in two legislatures with 87 votes or through a referendum.
“Just like in the year 2000 with the transitional government, it cuts the president’s mandate and there are two ways to approve it, being a constitutional reform: the first to be approved in Congress in two legislatures with 87 votes”he expressed.

“The second is that it be approved first in a legislature with 66 votes and be submitted to a citizen referendum, so that it is the citizenry that finally decides whether or not it is convenient for President Pedro Castillo’s mandate to be shortened”he added.
In this sense, he referred that the solution passes through the resignation or vacancy of Castle Lumps. Since this was not possible, he pointed out that this would be a “most viable solution” for the citizens to pronounce on the continuity or not of the management of the head of state.

The document was presented urgently to the office of the head of Parliament, María del Carmen Alva (Popular Action), and has the signatures of the head of state and the head of the Council of Ministers.
According to the proposal, a special ballot with the following question will be included in the October municipal elections: “Do you approve the call for a Constituent Assembly in charge of preparing a new Political Constitution?, with the alternatives to the question: YES or NO”.
Said referendum process will be autonomous and independent of the electoral process convened by Supreme Decree No. 001-2022-PCM” and “does not modify any rule of the aforementioned electoral process”.
The document states that the constitutional reform bill is submitted to the consideration of the Congress of the Republic”, with the approval vote of the Council of Ministers, so that a Constituent Assembly prepares a new Political Constitution.
