A survey of more than 1,500 citizens from a large part of the country shows a broad preference in favor of Santiago Peña in his candidacy for the Presidency of the Republic. According to the measurement, the candidate of the National Republican Association (ANR) gathers 42% of voting intentions, while Efraín Alegre, the candidate for the Concertación, barely reaches 19%.
Voting intentions at the end of January revealed a wide advantage in favor of Peña, the Colorado Party candidate, who is more than 20 points ahead of Alegre. With 42% of the preference at the country level, Peña is positioned before the opposition candidates.
“The 2023 presidential race begins with a strong position from Santiago Peña. The difference in his favor compared to the second best positioned, Efraín Alegre, is today 23 points, ”says one of the pollster’s conclusions.
With 12% of the preference is located the independent candidate Paraguayo Cubas, with 7% the ex-minister Euclides Acevedo and with only 4% is the ex-soccer player José Luis Chilavert. One of the observations made from Oima is that there is a fragmentation of the opposition vote.
The measurement was directed by the Argentine sociologist, Alejandra Najenson, from the polling company Oima Data. This investigation was carried out between January 16 and 27 of this year and “face-to-face” interviews were used with people between the ages of 18 and 70 eligible to vote, evaluating a total of 1,530 cases.
This survey is the first to be carried out after internal elections, which took place on December 18. The universe was very broad considering the traditional sampling for a national opinion search. It covered the most populous cities in the country such as Asunción and included the departments of Concepción, San Pedro, Cordillera, Guairá, Caaguazú, Caazapá, Itapúa, Misiones, Paraguarí, Alto Paraná, Central, Amambay and Canindeyú.
The red unity process is in full swing but with a very positive outlook, taking into account the latest meetings between Santiago Peña and Arnoldo Wiens and other important leaders of the Red Party, who also met with the leadership bases from different parts of the country .
This favorable poll for Peña shows the results of the party unity, which was achieved almost in record time after the past internships. Several ANR referents stated that they put aside their movements and are committed to working for list 1, so that the presidential duo Santiago Peña and Pedro Alliana obtain auspicious results on April 30.
