Aldo Peña, one of the most beloved and respected figures of Santa Cruz music, He passed away this Friday, September 20thas confirmed by his daughter, Selvita Peña Justiniano, through her social networks. Aldo Peña, known as the creator of ‘El Brincao’, left an indelible mark on the musical culture of Santa Cruz and in the history of the Santa Cruz Carnival.
“Today you rest, my love, after so much strugglenow rejoice in Glory with God and your brothers… I love you very much and I will miss you much more, I always carry you in my heart,” wrote his daughter in an emotional message on Facebook, accompanied by a photograph of the singer.
Aldo Peña began his artistic career in the 1980s, touring the country with his music, through which he exalted the cultural richness of Bolivia. His style, marked by the traditional ‘Brincao’, became synonymous with the joy of the Santa Cruz Carnival, and his work resonated both locally and nationally. Among his best-known compositions are: Superb, Autonomy and I am the Carnival.

The departure of Aldo Peña leaves a deep void in the artistic sphere of Santa Cruz, especially because in the next few days the Mayor’s Office of Santa Cruz de la Sierra was going to grant him the recognition of Illustrious Son of Santa Cruz, at an event scheduled for Monday, September 23. Although this recognition could not come during his lifetime, his legacy will remain alive through his music and the love that the people of Santa Cruz will always have for him.
