MIAMI, United States. – The Latin Recording Academy announced Thursday that Cuban singer-songwriter Albita Rodríguez, along with other notable artists such as Lolita Flores, Alejandro Lerner, Los Ángeles Azules, Draco Rosa and Lulu Santos, will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.
“It is a great honor to honor these musical legends, who continue to redefine our Latin music and heritage, and we look forward to celebrating them as part of our 25th anniversary Latin Grammy festivities in November,” said Manuel Abud, CEO of The Latin Recording Academy.
The Lifetime Achievement Award, which is voted on by the Latin Recording Academy Board of Directors, is given to artists who have made creative contributions of significant artistic significance to Latin music and its communities.
The Latin Recording Academy considers Albita as “one of the most exuberant ambassadors of Latin culture in the United States.” In addition, it highlighted her energetic and passionate interpretation of Cuban music.
A Latin Grammy winner, Albita has championed Cuban music since the release of her debut album in 1988.
Born in Havana Born in 1962, the singer-songwriter is the daughter of a popular Cuban folk duo. Her career took a new boost after her move to Miami in 1993, where her performances in Florida nightclubs earned her a recording contract with the Crescent Moon label. Emilio Estefan.

This year, The Latin Recording Academy will also present the Awards to:
- Angel Cucco Grief (Puerto Rico): Renowned producer and arranger. He has worked with numerous renowned artists in Latin music.
- Chucho Rincon (Mexico): Producer and sound engineer. He has contributed significantly to the development of Mexican regional music.
The ceremony to honor these outstanding artists will take place in November, in Miamias part of the celebrations for the 25th anniversary of the Latin Grammy.
