the first Alberto Otárola announced today that the government will begin with the economic reactivation of Puno, one of the regions that was affected by the violent demonstrations registered after the coup d’état by Pedro Castillo.
In an interview with Canal N, he said that President Dina Boluarte will make announcements soon.

“The president is going to give a press conference on Puno, in the Council of Ministers today we have seen fundamentally how we generate progress in Peru, we have seen that it is unacceptable that the water and drainage works in Juliaca (Puno) have a financial progress of 7% or 8%, that is going to end and with good reason the people of Juliaqueños have protested”, he expressed.
Otárola avoided giving details, but said that the actions will aim to recover tourism in that part of the country, provide better water and drainage services, and aim to clean up Lake Titicaca.
“In Puno a very strong development and investment process will begin, the measures will be announced by the president, I do not want to get ahead of myself,” he said.
Regarding the announced ‘Second Taking of Lima’, called for today and without an end date, the head of the Ministerial Cabinet indicated that the protest will be respected but that the Police will act to guarantee the safety of citizens.
“We are going to guarantee peaceful marches and protests, we are in a democracy and the Police must guard public order, public and private assets will not be allowed to be affected, we feel that the vast majority of the population wants peace of mind,” he asserted.
