The Governor of the Province of currentsGustavo Valdés, confirmed this Wednesday that the head of the National Government, Alberto Fernández, will visit the areas affected by forest fires in the region in the coming days.
In a message on his Twitter account, Valdés announced that “The president will travel to the province of currents next Friday, February 25”when he is expected to meet with the different local authorities of the northern region.
Along the same lines, the governor of currents I affirm that “They will make a wide tour of the different areas affected by the accidents”, which already represent 10% of the provincial territory. And it is that, since the forest fires began in the area, almost 700 thousand hectares of forests and crops have been burned.
Previously, the heads of the Ministries of Environment and Sustainable Development and Agriculture, Juan Cabandié and Julián Domínguez, also visited the areas affected by the fire crisis in currents to evaluate the effects and establish the different aid mechanisms to recover the agricultural fields.
The worst fires in history
According to estimates from the National Fire Management System, every day, forest fires in currents burn more than 30,000 hectares of forests and agricultural cropswhich translates into multimillion-dollar losses for the productive apparatus of the region.
In just one month, the claims wiped out more than 300,000 hectares of fertile farmland and the financial losses already exceed 26 million pesos. Despite economic aid and emergency measures, it is estimated that the agricultural sector of the province it could take five to ten years to recover from this catastrophic event.
