President Alberto Fernández said on Monday that “politics does not make sense if it is not to improve the lives of the people” and affirmed that he, “inexorably”, will be on the side of the most needy.
“Inexorably, I am going to be next to those who need us the most,” he stressed when leading the delivery ceremony of 837 homes of the Casa Propia program in the San Juan town of La Bebida to residents who were affected by the earthquake of January 18, 2021.
Accompanied by the Governor of San Juan, Sergio Uñac, and by the Minister of Territorial Development and Habitat, Santiago Maggiotti, Fernández highlighted the importance of state investment in housing and claimed that with the delivery of the 837 houses he was fulfilling a promise made. to those affected by the earthquake.
“I still remember that day in January of the year 2021, when the earth shook here and took the house or hurt the house of many of you, and I came quickly because I wanted to see what was happening. We assumed the commitment that, quickly, those who had lost their homes would have a decent home,” he reviewed.
As officially reported, this Monday’s is the largest home delivery since Alberto Fernández arrived at the Casa Rosada, with 837 families receiving their home in the neighborhoods of Ingeniero Céspedes and Sierras Marquesado of the San Juan locality of La Bebida.

After handing over the keys to the brand new and excited new owners, the President insisted that he was not doing “any favors” but simply fulfilling the duty of the State to recognize the rights of the people.
“These, for me, are 837 unique houses in my soul: I will carry them engraved as something special, I saw them suffer that day and I see her smile today, that makes me very happy”Fernandez affirmed, adding that the national government has invested 82 million pesos in the province.
In this sense, he again criticized those who think of market action as the solution to society’s problems. “Markets don’t solve those problems because they are not a business. The business is in the most expensive houses and in the wealthy families that can afford them and they are welcome, but for those who cannot afford a house it is the State’s obligation to take charge,” he remarked.
For his part, Uñac thanked the President for making that province one of the most assisted and contrasted this situation with what San Juan received during Mauricio Macri’s mandate.
“We signed 1,100 homes for 2016, they passed it to 2017, they passed it to 2018 and we ended 2019 signing the same 1,100 homes, without the same financing, as in those four years,” he questioned in his review of the Cambiemos management.

Only with the 837 homes delivered today, the investment made by the national State was 6,155 million pesos, it was officially reported.
Maggiotti, the first to speak, stressed that “the best contract is to meet the demand committed” and said that the inauguration of the houses that took place today was an example of that phrase.
