ALBA-TCP demands immediate cessation of military actions that violate the sovereignty of the region

President Nicolás Maduro read the final declaration of the XIII Extraordinary Summit of Alba-TCPwhich was held on Wednesday virtually, highlighting the agreements adopted to reinforce the sovereignty, peace and unity of the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean against external threats.

Main points of the statement were the following:

  1. Backup to Maduro Faced with the persecution of the United States
  2. Rejection of US military deployment in the region.
  3. Denunciation of threat to peace and violation of international law.
  4. Requirement of immediate cessation of military actions that violate sovereignty.
  5. Condemns the economic block against Cuba.
  6. Reaffirmation of the anti-imperialist character of ALBA-TCP.
  7. Support for meeting of foreign minors of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) – confirmed by Gustavo Petro.
  8. Reaffirmation of the freedom and independence of the peoples, commitment to peace, unity and regional security, following the legacy of Bolívar, Martí, Chávez and Fidel.

In a statement, Venezuela, Cuba, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda, San Vicente and Las Grenadinas, San Cristóbal and Nieves, Granada and Santa Lucía, warned that “the US military deployment in the Caribbean waters, disguised as anti -drug operations, represents a threat to peace and the stability of the region and constitutes a flagrant violation of international law.”

In this sense, leaders have demanded the immediate cessation of any threat that compromises the independence of states in our region. They have also condemned the economic blockade against Cuba and reaffirmed their commitment to peace, sovereignty, equality and consolidation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a free peace zone of interference.

They also pointed out that “the orders of the United States Government to deploy military forces under false pretexts” have “the clear intention of imposing illegal, interference and contrary policies to the constitutional order of the states of Latin America and the Caribbean.”

Next, the full text of the final declaration:

Today more than ever, attached to the postulates of the proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a peace zone, adopted by the CELAC in 2014, as a historical and inescapable commitment to the defense of sovereignty, the security and stability of our peoples, the heads of state and government of the Bolivarian Alliance for the peoples of our America-Treatment of Commerce of the peoples (alba-tcp) Extraordinary way, we declare the following unanimously:

  1. We express our strongest and most absolute support to the constitutional president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, who again faces a disastrous offensive of political and judicial persecution promoted from the United States. We denounce that the unfounded, mythical and lacking accusations lacking legal support and used as instruments of media and diplomatic harassment, are part of the strategy of judicialization of the policy that aims to delegitimize sovereign governments and open the way to foreign intervention. These maneuvers not only constitute a direct attack on the independence of Venezuela, but also a threat against stability and self -determination of all peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean.
  2. We categorically reject the orders of the United States Government to deploy military forces under false pretexts, with the clear intention of imposing illegal, interference and contrary policies and contrary to the constitutional order of the states of Latin America and the Caribbean.
  3. We denounce before the world that the US military deployment in the Caribbean waters, disguised as anti -drug operations, represents a threat to the peace and stability of the region and constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, which consecrate respect for sovereignty, equality of states and self -determination of peoples.
  4. We demand the immediate cessation of any threat or military action that violates the territorial integrity and political independence of the states of Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as unrestricted respect to the international legal framework and the multilateral mechanisms of peaceful controversies.
  5. We also denounce the extreme reinforcement measures of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States government against Cuba, which, in addition to being contrary to international law, cause serious damage to the well -being of the Cuban people.
  6. We condemn the imperialist policy of harassment and destabilization, which, through unilateral coercive measures, blockages, diplomatic blackmail and media campaigns, seeks to undermine regional peace and security, in open contradiction with the spirit of cooperation, brotherhood and dialogue that must govern between free nations.
  7. We reaffirm the anti-imperialist and solidarity character of ALBA-TCP, proclaiming our decision to remain avant-garde in the active defense of the proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a peace zone, and to work tirelessly for a peace with justice, sovereignty and equality.
  8. We support the call of President Pro Tempore de la Celac, Gustavo Petro, to an urgent meeting of foreign ministers of the region to set a joint, dignified and sovereign position, given the threats of aggression and interference against Venezuela and before any interventionist attempt that threatens the peace of Latin America and the Caribbean.
  9. We reaffirm freedom and independence conquered more than two centuries ago and we proclaim our unwavering decision to defend regional peace, unity and security, free of all forms of foreign intervention.
  10. Our Liberators Simón Bolívar, José Martí, Antonio José de Sucre, José de San Martin, Joseph Chatoyer, Maurice Bishop, Augusto Sandino taught us that the only guarantee of freedom against imperial powers is the firm unity of the peoples of the big homeland.
  11. Today, as avant -garde of free peoples, we declare that true peace can only be born from social justice, respect for the sovereignty of nations and the self -determination of peoples. Faced with imperialism that threatens wars and blockages, Latin America and the Caribbean reaffirm that they will follow the path of Bolivar, Marti, Chávez and Fidel, and ratifies their irrevocable condition of protecting the region so that we continue to be a peace zone.
