Alba defends the principles of equity at COP29

The delegation of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (Alba) defends the principles of equity during its participation in the 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The Minister of Ecosocialism, Josué Lorca, spoke at the closing plenary session of the subsidiary scientific and technological advisory bodies, representing the Alba countries. He stated that the coalition will not accept that “responsibilities that do not belong to us are transferred to us.”

He stressed the importance of ensuring means of implementation that include financing, technology transfer and capacity development. “Only in this way can we move towards transitions that are truly fair and equitable,” he indicated.

Lorca pointed out that, in a world where the environmental crisis affects everyone, it is vital that developing States receive the necessary support to face these challenges.

On Instagram he explained that Venezuela promotes ecosocialism as an alternative model that seeks sustainable development in harmony with Mother Earth. He added that ALBA will continue working for inclusive and participatory multilateralism.
