Alarm assaults on the roads that connect Diriamba, San Marcos and Jinotepe

Inhabitants of the La Guabas, Los Tanques, Los Medranos and El Chorizo communities denounce the growing citizen insecurity. They point out that some areas of these towns have stopped transiting them at certain hours of the day and night. They presume that a gang of robbers are responsible.

The community members said that the supposed group has caused anxiety to inhabitants of the renowned “golden triangle”, in the department of Carazo, due to the fact that in recent weeks firearm robberies have increased.

These communities connect the cities of Diriamba, Dolores, Jinotepe and San Marcos, they are lonely dirt roads where police surveillance cannot reach, which is why these roads have become areas for robbers.

Martha Molina, inhabitant of the community of Las Guabas, jurisdiction of the city of Diriamba, alleges that this situation has been going on for a long time and that the criminal gang does exist, because one of her two sons was a victim a year ago when they shot him at the road hook that divides the roads of Los Tanques and Dolores.

“My son was returning from work on his motorcycle, he always came inside because on the way he comes home, it was already about half past six in the evening, when he says that a man jumped on his side. , fell with everything and the motorcycle and three other men pointing a gun tied his hands and feet. They took his motorcycle and his wallet, and they left him lying on the road, “he said.

other victims

In the same way, the young Elida Palacios recounts that a little less than two months ago, she was traveling with her partner aboard a motorcycle taxi to drop off some passengers in the city of San Marcos, but that when she returned at around seven In the middle of the night, they were intercepted by five subjects on the road.

“They had a rope in the center of the road, we half slowed down and in that we only saw that we were surrounded by five hooded men, one had a machete in his hand and the other a shotgun. They got us off the motorcycle, they told me that if I spoke they were going to rape me, they beat my partner and they took the kangaroo where the money was and his cell phone, they just told us: go away, before we regret it,” Palacios said .

The woman from Diriambina assures that they went to the police station to file a complaint, but they were told that they are already aware of said gang of criminals, but that it has been difficult for them to capture them, “because the population is afraid to denounce them.”

Free zone workers, concerned

The workers of a free zone located in the city of Masatepe, but residents of the Los Medranos region, jurisdiction of San Marcos, say they feel very afraid and that they feel unprotected by the police authorities. “We are being victims of robbery with intimidation by individuals on motorcycles armed with bladed weapons and pistols and the Police do not seem to mind this,” a worker complained.

For Don Eliasiv Cárdenas, originally from the Los Medranos de San Marcos region, Carazo, the members of said band of assailants are men who live within these same communities and who know all the roads, the hours in which they can operate and who they can assault.

«About a month ago, at the entrance to this region, a young man who came from work was almost killed. It is very dark here, there is no light and the police station is a long way away. They were waiting for the poor man and for stealing his motorcycle they shot him in the chest, upon hearing the shot people came out, but no one was there anymore,” Cardenas said.

“The young man was left lying on the road, so we are in danger here because most of us who live here work in free zones and they know when they pay us,” he said.

Karla Arteaga also joined the complaint. She commented that she is an operator in a free zone and has to go out to the highway at dawn because she lives on the last street in the region, but that now her mother and a brother go out to drop her off every day since they found out that there are armed men. and committing crimes in the area.

Victims tied hands and feet

Tied hand and foot and with a blindfold, they left the citizen Elvis Romero, threw him at the bottom of a ravine in the Las Guabas community, in the city of Diriamba, and then took his motorcycle.

The same way in which they left Mrs. Martha Molina’s son, which confirms that they are the same people, who have taken over the roads that connect the aforementioned cities.

For Romero, it was the scare of his life, since he was returning from an evangelical campaign at about ten o’clock at night. The robbery happened around midnight.

«Halfway down the road I saw a man who stopped, I continued my course and I only felt when he jumped on me. Later I saw that two other men came out of a mountain, I begged for my life, I told them to take the motorcycle but not to do anything to me. They tied my hands, my feet and my eyes, they lifted me up and made me walk, I just felt that they put my feet in and I fell to the bottom of a ravine, “he recalled.

Romero remembers that he was lying there for more than an hour, standing still until he heard no noise. He started to let go the way he could, “only God helped me,” he said. The motorcycle was taken away and it is the date and he has not recovered it, despite the fact that he filed his complaint at the same moment that he managed to get out of the ravine where he was thrown by the criminals.

The people of Caracas call on the police authorities of these municipalities, and of the department, to take action in this regard. “The capture of these individuals is needed and there is patrolling on the roads,” they requested.
