Alan Perelis, president of the Panamanian Jewish Congress (CJP) was invited by the authorities of the Organization of American States (OAS) to be part of the advisory committee of the recently appointed Commissioner for Monitoring and Combating Antisemitism in the Americas.
The call signed by Luis Almagro, Secretary General of the OAS, and Commissioner Fernando Lottenberg, expresses the importance of this initiative as part of the fight against the increase in anti-Semitism at the global and regional levels. The task of the members of the advisory committee will be to collaborate with the Commissioner, providing updated information on expressions of anti-Semitism and recommending actions to address said manifestations.
“It is very valuable that the most important international organization in our region understands how threatening anti-Semitism is for the full and democratic development of our societies, and is willing to fight it head-on,” Perelis said when accepting the invitation.
