The supply crisis was caused by the power failure that occurred on August 16 at the Cartagena Refinery, which would have caused a deficit in jet fuel deliveries.

Although work is being done on all fronts to mitigate the impact of the situation on both the industry and users, the effects have already begun to be seen in the supply chain.

According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), various suppliers have announced to airlines that there will be no distribution at some air terminals.

The entity’s data shows that on August 25 supplies were suspended at the airports of Cúcuta, Valledupar, Leticia and Pasto. This Sunday, supplies were also interrupted for some airlines at the terminals in Bucaramanga and Cali.

Along the same lines, an alert was issued for critical levels in the inventory of the airports of Medellin, Pereira and Santa Marta.

In addition, the information provided by IATA in a letter sent to the Minister of Transport, María Constanza García, shows that as of Monday, August 26, inventories in Barranquilla will be at risk and that supplies will be suspended for three airlines in Bogotá and Cartagena.
