The importance and strength of the national industry is highlighted by the report for the first quarter of 2022 of the Continuous National Survey of the Workforce (ENCFT) carried out by the Central Bank.
This was stated by the president of the Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD), Celso Juan Marranzini, in a press release.
The industrialist indicated that the study highlights that the industry, together with the free zones, constitutes one of the three sectors that make up the 50.1% share of the labor market.
“The industry’s contribution has other aspects that need to be highlighted in order to assess the industry’s role in the nation’s economic and social development as correct,” he said.
And he added that it refers to the quality of jobs, both existing and generated. “As the Central Bank report indicates, industry is the sector in which the nominal salary has grown the most, with 29.3% in the first quarter of this year compared to the first quarter of 2021. Almost three times more than the average of national increase, which was 10% in that period”, he explained.
Marranzini emphasized that this behavior is due, above all, to the commitment of the industrialists with new investments, with innovation and with the generation of jobs that, together with productive policies, constitute the best way to contribute to social welfare.
The AIRD also highlighted the commitment of the authorities, especially the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, MSMEs, with proactive policies and programs and projects that constitute a boost to the country’s industries.
“Industry is welfare for the country. And if we take into account the linkages of the sector, we would also have to say that industry is strengthening the economy as a whole”, expressed Celso Juan Marranzini.
