The flight demand increased a 41.3% in November 2022 compared to the same month in 2021, but still stay away of the pre-pandemic levelsstill standing at 75.3% of the figures for November 2019, according to the statistics updated monthly by the International Association of Air Transport (IATA).
The eleventh month of 2022 recorded a strong year-over-year increase of international traffic (85.2%), although this represents 73.7% of pre-pandemic levels, while domestic flights they grew only 3.4% compared to 2021, and that demand is 77.7% of the 2019 numbers.
“The November figures reinforce the idea that consumers are taking advantage of the freedom to travelAlthough the reactions to China’s reopening of international travel in January remind us that many countries are still adopting political analysis when it comes to covid,” said the director general of IATAWillie Walsh.
In any case, Walsh recalled that China continues to demand tests for people who fly to the Asian country, which commits his criticism of similar practices adopted against its travelers.
Demand by regions
By region, demand grew 84.5% in Africa in November, 68.4% in Asia-Pacific, 37% in Europe, a 27.8% in Latin America and 19.6% in North America.
In the large national markets, the disparity of other months was repeated according to each country, taking into account the different situations of the pandemic in them: while in Australia the demand grew by 190% year-on-year, in China it fell by 38.8%, in USA the increase was only 5% and in Brazil 37.3%.
