Air passenger mobilization will increase 13% at the end of the year

Air connectivity is one of the most important aspects for the country’s tourism development. It is the way in which other additional services in the sector evolve and it becomes possible for travelers to learn about the diversity of attractions and cultures of the countries. In the case of Colombia, traffic at the country’s airports so far this year shows great progress, says the Colombian Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies, Anato.

“Based on the trend and positive path that Colombian air transport has revealed at the national and international level throughout 2024, we have drawn up some estimates for its closure,” explained Paula Cortés Calle, executive president of Anato.

By the end of 2024, The union projects that approximately 23 million passengers will be transported on international flights, and 33 million on national flights, which would represent a growth of 17% and 11% respectively. compared to 2023. In fact, by taking all the traffic, a 13% increase would be achieved with 56 million passengers.

It is noteworthy that, between January and September, Those destinations to which the movement of passengers on domestic flights has increased have been Pereira, with 33%; Armenia with 25%; and Santa Marta, with 24%; and that in the case of international flights, the airports with the greatest growth have been Cartagena, with 23%; Rionegro, with 22% and Bogotá, with 16%.

Another aspect to highlight is the increase in passenger traffic to the Leticia and Nuquí airports, with 13% and 64%, respectively.

“This reflects the progress that destinations with a tourist vocation have been making, as places of great interest for both nationals and foreigners. Therefore, it is essential that work continues on improving airport infrastructure and strengthening air routes and frequencies so that more travelers have the opportunity to see more and new places,” stated the union leader.
