The airline carries out an immediate update of the software of its A320 aircraft.
News Colombia.
The Superintendency of Transportation issued an official statement following Avianca’s announcement about the temporary immobilization of a significant part of its fleet. The measure is due to an instruction from the aircraft manufacturer to carry out an immediate software update on the A320 family equipment, which has generated operational effects on the scheduled itineraries.

As a direct consequence, Avianca suspended multiple flights and stopped the sale of tickets for trips scheduled until December 8. Although the situation was classified as a case of force majeure, the entity deployed an urgent protocol to assist affected users and provide guidance regarding any inconveniences that may arise due to delays or cancellations.
The Superintendency called on passengers to check the status of their flights before going to the airports or making any changes to their reservations. He also recommended frequently reviewing emails, text messages or notifications from the Avianca application, channels through which the airline will inform about rearrangements, cancellations and available alternatives.

The statement insists that, if the user has not been notified of a direct impact, they must refrain from submitting Requests, Complaints, Claims or Requests (PQRs), since these would only be appropriate if it is confirmed that the passenger has been harmed. In addition, the importance of preserving all documents related to the reservation, such as payment receipts and communications issued by the airline, was reminded.
If an impact is confirmed, passengers should be attentive to the options that Avianca can offer according to current regulations, including refund, rearrangement or date changes. The Superintendency reiterated that it will work jointly with the airline to minimize the impacts and guarantee that user rights are respected.

Finally, the entity assured that it will continue to monitor the situation and communicate news through its official channels. He also invited travelers to remain calm and stay informed through official channels, while progress is made in solving the technical requirement that keeps part of the fleet on the ground.
