The Civil Aeronautics will build, in the west of Bogotá, an Air Accident Investigation Center – CIAA.
(2017 the safest year in aviation history.)
This building is designed to improve air accident investigation capabilities in Colombia and position the country as a leader in this field at a regional level.
The objective is to have an architectural complex with technology and experts who autonomously and independently develop air accident investigation processes, to increase technical knowledge and prevent future accidents and incidents in civil aviation.

“The construction of the CIAA will improve the quality and opportunity in the investigation of aviation accidents, in the same building, with greater physical and operational autonomy. Additionally, it will generate better working conditions for public servants who work in accident investigation, reliability in the issuance of final reports of an accident investigation, possibilities of project development and greater confidence of the national and international aeronautical community, in addition of the contribution to the conservation of lives of the users of air transport and of aviation resources”, Sergio París Mendoza, General Director of Civil Aeronautics, said in this regard.
The architectural project includes the construction of a building with two basements, five floors, with an area close to 9,433 square meters.
The construction of the new Air Accident Investigation Center will end in April 2025, with an investment of close to $42,422 million.
