Involved in the fight for a place in the next edition of the Copa Libertadores, Bahia receives at the Arena Fonte Nova, in Salvador, a Vasco team that has had four consecutive defeats. Experiencing a moment of ups and downs in the Brazilian Championship, Tricolor de Aço starts the round with 53 points, in 7th place, and with a real chance of guaranteeing classification for the next edition of the continental competition.

Bahia arrives under pressure after being defeated 3-2 by Fortaleza in Castelão in the last round of the competition. According to coach Rogério Ceni, the lack of concentration could be one of the causes of the stumbles: “Physically we were fine [diante do Fortaleza]. But, mentally, for those who want to go straight to the Libertadores, we need a greater level of concentration.”

This Sunday, Tricolor de Aço will face an opponent going through a low point in the season, as they stopped thinking about the search for a place in the next edition of the Libertadores and started worrying about the proximity of the Brazilian Championship’s relegation zone.

After a 3-0 victory over Bragantino, on October 26th away from home, the team led by coach Fernando Diniz recorded four consecutive defeats (to São Paulo, Botafogo, Juventude and Grêmio).

According to Fernando Diniz, his team may be going through a moment of confidence loss: “We have to think about resting the team, recovering and thinking only about Bahia. When we lose in a row there may be a confidence loss, but it’s something we have to get back to. Look inside, correct our mistakes, come together more and try to rise, as has happened in other low moments in the competition.”
