Aguas de Cartagena finds new illegal connections in a nightclub and a laundry

The Aguas de Cartagena company reported the detection of two cases of fraud in the aqueduct service, identified within the framework of its operational control actions.

According to the report, The findings correspond to the bypass mode, used to avoid real consumption recording of drinking water.

The two cases of improper use of the service were recorded in the El Bosque neighborhood, in a commercial establishment that functions as a nightcluband in the Vista Hermosa neighborhood, in a car wash.

In the midst of the inspections carried out by the company, they evidenced the installation of a fraudulent system in both places, designed to bypass the official consumption meter under the bypass mode. The system allowed drinking water to be consumed without the corresponding record.

Therefore, Aguas de Cartagena reported the findings to the competent authorities, initiating the corresponding administrative processes for the recovery of the defrauded amounts. Additionally, will proceed with the imposition of the sanctions established by current regulations for this type of infractions.

On the other hand, and given the frequency of findings of this type, Aguas de Cartagena called on the population to collaborate with the identification and reporting of any anomaly or illegal connection.

Other frauds

Aguas de Cartagena reported that in recent weeks they detected 3 illegal drinking water connections in three commercial establishments: a hotel and two restaurants located in the El Bosque, El Campestre and La Boquilla neighborhoods.

This detection occurred in the midst of the operations of the Commercial Loss Control Program, which aims to detect irregular access to the aqueduct system.

During the reviews, three types of irregularities were found: a double attack (unauthorized direct connection), a bypass (pre-meter bypass) and a triple connection (two additional illegal direct connections).

The company also indicated that the illegalities were previously verified through hydraulic tests and monitoring of readings, which made it possible to identify consumption not recorded by the meters.

Subsequently, specialized technical work was carried out to dismantle the irregular connections and the corresponding sanctions were imposed, which, According to the regulations, they can reach up to $250 million pesos, in addition to implying prison sentences of up to two years.
