The Federal Attorney General’s Office (AGU) reported this Friday (26) that it managed to overturn the injunction of the Federal Court of Mato Grosso that suspended the Brazilian CNH programprepared by the federal government to facilitate the population’s access to the National Driving License (CNH).
The decision was handed down by the Federal Regional Court of the 1st Region (TRF1) after the AGU appealed the decision.
In the decision, federal judge João Batista Moreira understood that the National Traffic Council (Contran) acted within its regulatory power when establishing the new rules for obtaining a driver’s license.
In a statement, the AGU stated that the decision avoids negative impacts on drivers and ensures the uniformity of the national traffic system.
The main change is the end of the obligation to attend driving school classes in preparation for theoretical and practical exams in the Traffic departments (Detrans).
As a result, the cost of obtaining the document, which currently amounts to R$5,000, could fall by 80%.
