Agronomists announce march to the National Palace on February 12

Santo Domingo.-The National Association of Agricultural Professionals (ANPA) announced a national march towards National Palace, scheduled for Wednesday February 12 at 10:00 in the morning, demanding immediate responses to the sector’s demands.

The president of the ANPAVíctor Hugo Hernández, stated that the decision was adopted during a meeting of the National Plenary of Leaders of the union, after verifying that, despite multiple calls for dialogue, the authorities continue not to respond to the problems that directly affect the life and stability of thousands of agricultural professionals.

Among the demands made to the government are:
Minimum salary of RD$50,000.
More than 1,600 pensions pending.
Replacement of 350 canceled agronomists.
Job definition of IAD technicians, mired in uncertainty after its merger with the Ministry of Agriculture.

Payment of more than four months of incentives owed to Plant Health technicians.

The union leader reiterated that “the minister is new, but the fight and the demands are old.” In that sense, he reported that he has requested a meeting with the head of Agriculture, Oliverio Espaillat, through different means, without having received a response to date.
