Agroferias: with less than $5 you can buy rice, oil, sugar, chiricano beans and salt.

After two years of the fair program being suspended due to the pandemic, this Saturday, April 30, the Agricultural Marketing Institute (IMA) restarted the agricultural fairs in six parts of the country simultaneously.

According to the IMA, these fairs offered high-demand products such as rice, oil, salt, sugar, beans, canned goods, meat, among others, purchased from producers and the local industry at comfortable and accessible prices for Panamanians; so much so that with less than $5 they could buy five essential products.

The IMA explained that with $4.60 consumers can take home 5-pound rice for $1.25, a 900-ml bottle of oil for $1.75, 2-pound sugar for $0.90, 1-pound salt for $0.20, and 400-gram packages of chiricano beans. at $50. Therefore, the purchase of these five products does not exceed $5.

Producers also participated in the agricultural fairs, offering vegetables, fruits, grains, bread, eggs, and handicrafts, among others, directly to the consumer, allowing them to obtain higher profits.

The authorities detailed that these fairs were reactivated in Puerto Armuelles, in front of the Fiscal Dock (Chiriquí); the La Seda court in Barrio Balboa (La Chorrera), Las Tablas in Plaza Praga (Los Santos); IMA facilities in Pan de Azúcar (San Miguelito); at the IMA headquarters in Santiago (Veraguas) and in the Natá park (Coclé).
