The Guariqueño agro-producer, Vito Eduardo Croce Romero, alerted that the Public Ministry is carrying out actions aimed at “twisting” his arm in a trial for partition of an inheritance.
Croce Romero explained that the inheritance is mainly made up of a 276-hectare farm located in the Francisco de Miranda municipality (Calabozo), Guárico state. Once Croce Romero’s father died, the National Land Institute (Inti) has issued measures in various directions, recognizing the ownership of that property (Fundo Santa Lucía) and subsequently revoking it.
Faced with this uncertainty, Croce Romero requested a protection measure on agricultural production, an approach that was supported by the Superior Agrarian Court of Guárico in charge of José Alberto Bermejo.
In this regard, the aforementioned Court decreed an “autonomous measure of protection for agricultural production activity.”
The Court made that decision after verifying that in those lands (Fundo Santa Lucía), “there is an agricultural activity” which could be threatened by the actions of the Inti, according to what is clear from the sentence signed by Judge Bermejo who argued that his office you cannot ignore the nation’s food security.
Croce Romero noted that now the Public Ministry has opened an investigation for aggravated theft, which is interpreted as a way to “disturb agricultural activity” carried out on farms where there are mango and rice fields, the complainant warned.
“How am I going to steal or steal something that is mine, that is on the farm,” Croce Romero wondered when commenting on the tax accusation.
They also opened a file for alleged plantation fire. On this point, Croce Romero clarified that prosecutors 38 and 60 know that there was a natural and unprovoked fire, originating in neighboring farms.
“But these prosecutors, instead of concentrating on the investigation for which they were assigned, are investigating whether Inti revoked my land title or ratified it, even prosecutor Karolin García has met several times with the president of Inti to deal with that point. I don’t understand”, stated Croce Romero, who asked the attorney general, Tarek William Saab, to investigate the reported situation.
