Agro-exports (traditional and non-traditional) would exceed US$ 10,000 million this year, estimated today the president of the Exporters Association (Adex), Julio Pérez Alván.
This was stated after inaugurating the fourteenth edition of the Expoalimentaria (EA), the most important food and beverage fair in the region, which this year returned to its face-to-face format.
He said that this specialized event would help close deals for around US$ 150 million, which would represent a great boost for Peruvian law firms.

Also participating in the opening ceremony were the executive president of Promperú, Amora Carbajal Schumacher; the executive director of the Association of Agro-export Producer Unions (Agap), Gabriel Amaro; and the Vice Minister of Agrarian Policies of Midagri, Juan Altamirano Quispe.
Likewise, the director of the Cien-Adex Global Economy and Business Research Center, Edgar Vásquez Vela; the president of Sierra y Selva Exportadora, Carlos Talavera, and the regional governors of Apurimac, Huancavelica, and Ancash; Baltazar Lantaron, Maciste Díaz and Henry Borja, respectively.
In his speech, Pérez Alván stated that the advance of Peruvian agro-exports does not have a single cause, it arose from several factors, among them, the Free Trade Agreements, the Law for the Promotion of the Agrarian Sector, the use of reliable and efficient sources of water, legislation on land, the great role of the agro-export entrepreneur and the strengthening of the union part.

Five regional governments participate in this opportunity, Piura, Ancash, Apurímac, Cusco and Huancavelica, with their respective pavilions in which they exhibit the best of their offer.
Likewise, companies from 17 countries, including the Netherlands, the United States, Colombia, Italy, Germany, Spain, Mexico, China, Belgium, Portugal and Greece. Others had their own pavilions, such as Ecuador, Argentina, Indonesia, Chile, Turkey and Brazil.
“For this edition, the arrival of more than 1,000 international visitors and 800 buyers from the five continents has been registered. 37% come from Latin America, 22% from North America, 24% from Europe and Oceania and 17% from Asia and Africa”, detailed.
The EA 2022 summons the largest buyers from the five continents, such as traders, distributors and large food marketing chains, who came with the expectation of identifying the best of the agricultural offer of the coast, mountains and jungle, attracted by its high quality. , diversity and growing position at the tables of families around the world.
Diversity that inspires the world
On the other hand, Pérez Alván indicated that on the occasion of this edition of the Expoalimentaria the motto ‘diversity that inspires the world’ was coined, because Peru is a country with much to offer.
In 2021, it was the first global exporter of blueberries, quinoa and grapes, the second of canned asparagus, fresh asparagus and canned olives, the third of avocado, dried paprika and canned artichokes and the fourth of ginger.
