Agriculture: they announce more than S/1,000 million to reactivate the sector and clear channels

“These measures have a quick impact and will strengthen the competitiveness of the sector that generates the most employment in Peru. In addition, actions will be promoted that will improve and make the use of water more efficient, and productive development tools will be promoted to generate a significant change in the conditions of the sector,” the MEF specified.

The transfers will also be used to carry out interventions for the cleaning of 63,784 km of canals and drains through maintenance actions and clearing of irrigation infrastructure.

In addition, it will seek to rehabilitate 1,420 km of canals and irrigation system, develop 645 lakes for water reserves and finance 843 business plans.

The latter, according to the estimates of the Ministry of Economy, would benefit 30,290 agricultural producers from more than 45 production chains, which will include producers of cocoa, coffee, guinea pigs, milk, and potatoes, among others.
