Most of the prices of agricultural products with the highest consumption at the national level registered an increase of over 20% in 12 months, according to the consumer price index (CPI).
the pound of yucca waxed with 81% and that of yautia coconut 67.2%; the unit of pineapple with 41% and green banana 40.7%; and the pound of dad with 38.8%, they were the ones with the highest increase as of January 2023.
The Ministry of Economy, Planning and Development (MEPyD) recently published its monthly analysis on the price of agricultural products corresponding to January of this year, in which it presents a comparative table of food prices between one month and another and during the last 12 months.
According to the report, which analyzes 37 products per productive line, only two of registered decrease at its cost: the garlicwith a variation of -16 %, and the creole avocadowith -5%, if its price of January 2022 is compared with the same month of this year.

The MEPyD indicates that the inflation MoM stood at 0.63%. In that order, the percentage in the variation in the price of food and non-alcoholic beverages registered an increase of 1.32% compared to December 2022.
The government expects that in the first quarter of this year most products will register reductions as a result of the seasonal effect and due to strategies that are being implemented to maintain stability and supply, such as the 15-day ban on egg export to Haiti in January of this year.
