The agricultural producers requested the government of Dina Boluarte the permanent unblocking of roads and the restoration and maintenance of internal order. The requests were expressed through the Association of Agricultural Producers Guilds of Peru (Agap).
“The Association of Agricultural Producers Guilds of Peru deeply regrets that our country is under attack by people who are causing a situation of terror, deaths, destruction, extortion and chaos in the Peruvian population, affecting life, security, freedom of work and business. We urgently demand that the government restore and maintain order and the unblocking of roads,” the union said in a statement.
The producers’ union expressed two requests to the Executive.
The first was that it “declare in emergency the regions where roadblocks and violent acts such as Ica, Arequipa and else”.
Meanwhile, the second request was that the Government “immediately unblock the country’s highways and that they remain in the custody of the National Police and Armed Forces so that they are not violated again.”
In addition, Agap demanded that the National Prosecutor and the President of the Judiciary “fulfill their constitutional role of identifying and punishing in an exemplary manner all those guilty of these attacks against the country and democracy.”
“We call on all Peruvians, churches, universities, unions and other institutions to unite to achieve peace, dialogue, development and that the rule of law and internal order prevail,” said the union.
To this he added his support “to the work of the National Police and the Armed Forces within the framework of their constitutional and legal powers for the recovery of public order.”
