Mevir will discount up to 50% of the quota to producers affected by the drought

Maintaining the benefits granted for those who cannot meet their housing quotas and providing a bonus of up to 50% for one year are some of the measures approved by the Mevir board of directors for the beneficiaries of the rural housing program affected by the deficit water, informed the president of the organization, Juan Pablo Delgado. In addition, he announced new housing plans in Artigas and Canelones.

In dialogue with Presidential Communication, this Friday the 17th, the chief explained that the owners of rural homes that have production, called productive units, receive the benefit of exemption from one year of payment for every three as good payers, while at the same time They receive a discount on fees.

For this reason, among the measures adopted due to the drought situation, Mevir defined that, between February and April, producers who are up to date until January 31 will not lose those benefits in the event of being late in paying quotas.

The period established until April was determined by the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries (MGAP) due to the agricultural emergency. “If there is an extension, we will also apply it,” he added.

Delgado added that there will be no fines, surcharges or delinquencies in case of non-compliance with the corresponding payment, and stressed that the members of productive units can request a bonus of up to 50% of the quota for one year.

In addition, he informed that the participants of the Mevir programs in houses with a field or farm accredited as family rural producers before the aforementioned ministry or the National Institute of Colonization (INC) will be able to access the same benefit regarding the quota bonus. “This is a way for people to continue paying without breaking the chain in the face of this worrisome situation,” he said.

The way to request these tools is to the social area of the institution, through the telephone line 17517, or through the form provided in the application of the institution, he informed.

Mevir will develop new housing plans and 22 dairy farms

Delgado announced that in March the institution will inaugurate a plan for 12 sustainable wooden homes and a child and family care center (CAIF), in the department of Artigas.

Also that month, the same will be done with another 40 homes in a nucleated plan in the town of Santa Rosa, department of Canelones.

Likewise, on February 27 it will announce, together with the INC and the MGAP, an agreement to open 22 dairy farms in 2023 throughout the country.
