Agri-food policy law will be sanctioned by President Cortizo on January 18 at the Ocú Fair

The minister of the Ministry of Agricultural Development Augusto Valderrama, in an interview with Radio Panama, gave details of the sanction of the new Agri-Food Policy law that will take place on January 18 at the inauguration of the San Sebastián de Ocú Fair.
For Minister Valderrama, President Cortizo has been committed to this law since he was in the campaign “a law was promised that would remove the agricultural sector from political fluctuations every 5 years and an entire program of consultations was carried out at the national level with producers , industrialists, importers, exporters throughout the country and brought to the assembly this law that was approved unanimously and that aims to give this sector the legal framework and support for resources for competitive agriculture, which leads to man the countryside to improve their living standards.
On the impact of this law in the short, medium and long term, Valderrama said that “this law aims to provide a framework so that the producer knows that the state is going to protect him, that he can get into debt in new technologies and that he is going to have a state that will be waiting to help you, strengthen it within a mechanism of productivity and efficiency and not paternalism, a follow-up system is created where the producers within the law have an advisory council that will meet with the minister on duty to follow up on strategic plans in a transparent manner”, stated Valderrama.
