Agreement between Labor and the Judiciary will strengthen labor negotiations

The Ministry of Labor signed, this Friday the 16th, an agreement with the Judiciary to cooperate in training in mediation and conflict resolution. Minister Pablo Mieres considered that an improvement in the capacity for dialogue and training of negotiators will allow for greater opportunities for agreements. The conclusion of the agreement does not imply any type of financial commitment for the parties.

Along with Minister Mieres were the Undersecretary of Labor, Mario Arizti; the national director of Labor, Federico Daverede; the president of the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ), John Pérez Brignani, and the general director of Administrative Services of the Supreme Court of Justice, Marcelo Pesce.

Pablo Mieres indicated that both institutions have a long history in the ability to mediate, articulate, negotiate and agree. “All the experience that has been developed at the level of the Judiciary in the field of mediation, for the Ministry of Labor is a component of fundamental support and training,” he alluded to.

He added that transferring this to the agreement will be reflected in the fact that mediators and negotiators have access to training that will help improve capacities, aptitudes and competencies for a better quality of democratic coexistence.

Federico Daverede, for his part, maintained that the agreement is part of the strategic plan of the management he heads. He added that officials involved in collective bargaining and individual conflicts will be professionalized.

The agreement fosters academic collaboration and reciprocal cooperation in the development of technical and academic projects in areas of common interest.

It also specifies that both parties will define the specific forms of collaboration under teaching and training modalities; co-organization and participation in courses, seminars, congresses, forums or workshops, as well as in consultancies, exchange of information, material and access to libraries.

The conclusion of the agreement does not imply any type of prior economic or financial commitment by the parties and will be in force for one year from the date of subscription. Its renewal will require the express manifestation of the will of both parties.
