Ministry of Defense announced call for tenders for the old Carrasco airport

Agreement between ANEP and Mevir grants 120 million pesos for the maintenance of rural schools

The National Administration of Public Education (ANEP) and Mevir Dr. Alberto Gallinal Heber signed an agreement that includes 120 million pesos for the maintenance of rural schools. The announcement was made at the presentation of the Illustra tu Comunidad contest, aimed at 5th and 6th grade children from rural public institutions, which is also organized by the Ministry of the Environment.

The launch, this Tuesday the 7th at the ANEP headquarters, was attended by the president of the Central Board of Directors (Codicen), Robert Silva; the head of Mevir, Juan Pablo Delgado, and the general director of the Ministry of the Environment, Diego Iglesias Suárez. This portfolio also participates in the management of the contest.

In his speech, Silva expressed that the objective is to include children from different departments in the celebration of 55 years of the housing executing agency. In addition, he considered that it is part of the policy to strengthen rural education, which implies increasing the participation of the communities.

The agreement will enable the transfer of 120 million pesos to improve the infrastructure of 1,040 schools, a budget that will be executed by Mevir. “They have not had maintenance for a long time,” said the hierarch.

For his part, Delgado pointed out that the invitation promotes environmental, economic and social sustainability. He also highlighted the link between the institution he directs and the study centers.

In that sense, he recalled that Alberto Gallinal Heber, before starting the housing works, designed the 100 Rural Schools plan, which consisted of building them between 1961 and 1972.

The Ministry of the Environment will provide inputs for the winning centers, economic support for the winners’ visit to Montevideo and a stay in the portfolio’s reserve in Cabo Polonio, department of Rocha.

Contest Illustrate your Community

The contest invites 5th and 6th grade students from rural schools to make illustrations, in order to promote reflection, through art, about the development of a sense of belonging and sustainability.

Proposals may be submitted from June 7 to July 7, and the jury’s deliberation will take place between July 25 and 27. The distribution of winners will be announced in August.

The winning drawings will be presented at the Mevir stand at Expo Prado 2022 and a delegation of up to 10 children per winning school, plus an adult reference, will be invited to attend. In addition, the winning drawings will be part of the organization’s 2023 calendar.

There will be four winning institutions, which will be awarded with painting for the entire school, with an estimated amount of 50,000 pesos.

The Ministry of the Environment will donate ecological paint and provide training on the care of green spaces.
