The National Assembly (AN) approved this Thursday – in ordinary session – an agreement to commemorate the 38th anniversary of the death of the Venezuelan singer-songwriter, Ali Primera.
The project was presented by the AN deputy and son of the singer-songwriter, Juan Simón Primera.
“This day is a meeting of emotions between joys and sadness, sometimes. We are part of the singer and political activist, as he started, but he later decided that the town’s troubadour is the one who sings, ”he said during his speech.
In this sense, he stressed that, with his music, Ali Primera unified the idea and the struggle of the Venezuelan people for revolutionary ideals and the defense of the homeland.
The agreement approved by Parliament contemplates the commemoration of the 38 years of his death, and keeping the memory and song present in Venezuelans.
In statements broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión, the president of the Parliament, Jorge Rodríguez, recalled various anecdotes that the singer-songwriter of the town, starred with the students and social movements of the 70s.
He also recalled that Primera was a regular visitor to his father when he was imprisoned in the Sabaneta prison in Maracaibo.
In the same way, he said that there he listened to the stories of a peasant guerrilla who was also detained, which served as an inspiration to the singer.
At the tribute and approval of the agreement, friends of family members and brothers of Ali Primera were present as guests of honor.
Ali Primera, made music a trench for popular struggle, died on February 16, 1985 in a traffic accident on the Valle-Coche highway in Caracas.
Agreement by the Congress of Angostura
On the other hand, during the session of the AN, the Project of Agreement of the 204 years of the installation of the Congress of Angostura was approved, on February 15, 1819.
The proposal was presented by the deputy Saúl Osio, who read – before presenting the agreement – a fragment of the speech in the Congress of Angostura.
“In this Assembly, today we find various political factors but it does not cover the spirit of Bolívar to guarantee the highest interests of the country. Venezuela should always be the meeting point for everyone, ”he stressed.
He also recalled that when preparing the National Constitution of 1998, Commander Hugo Chávez rescued the concepts of participatory and protagonist democracy, as well as the empowerment of the people raised by Simón Bolívar two centuries earlier.
In the text it is agreed to “reiterate the commitment of the AN to promote the patriotic sense of the struggles that the Venezuelan people have led, recognizing the origins and vindicating the leading role of the Congress of Angostura.”
On February 15, 1819, the Liberator Simón Bolívar installed the Congress of Angostura in Venezuela, after a speech in which he called to firmly lead the destiny of the nation.
