The National Land Transport Agency (ANTT) ratified the 5.03% readjustment of the North-South railroad tariff table. The decision was published by the Ministry of Transport in Official Diary of the Union today (2).
In addition to the formula used in calculating the tariff, the Decision No. 17 presents a table with amounts to be charged for each type of merchandise: fertilizers; cement, lime and clinker (basic raw material for various types of cement); sugar; vegetable oil; grains and bran; fuels; and cotton, among others.
The decision also includes the amounts to be charged for full and empty containers, 20 and 40 feet; as well as the tariff that will be charged for right of way.

The North-South Railway was conceived with the purpose of being the backbone of the Brazilian railway system, through which the main railway networks would be interconnected, facilitating the flow of national production and allowing the connection between several producing regions and the major ports of the country. country.
When completed, it will cover more than 4,000 km and will cross the country longitudinally, going from Rio Grande do Sul to Pará, passing through the Southeast and Midwest regions and connecting to the Northeast, in particular Maranhão.
The first discussions about the construction of this railroad were held in 1985 and had the then President José Sarney as the greatest enthusiast.
