After two years, without taking place due to the pandemic, Beer Week returned

In the afternoon, Vice President Beatriz Argimón arrived at the Beer Week in the department of Paysandú, to accompany a strong commitment from the Sanducera Intendancy, after two years without this important event. This is the 55th Edition that began on Saturday 9 and will end on Sunday 17 April. Vice President Argimón together with Mayor Nicolás Olivera toured the facilities and inaugurated the Tango stage, with the stable artistic formation of the Paysandú Municipality. “Hopefully it will be a great week, let’s take advantage of the time intensely, let’s enjoy with friends, with family, with those who visit us; let’s be great hosts with those who chose Paysandú for Tourism Week”, said Mayor Nicolás Olivera upon inaugurating the event that will last until next Sunday the 17th.

The inauguration of the festival included the traditional tapping of the barrel, the presentation of the official jug, the first musical shows and the election of Antonella Ronchetti, Giuliana Gutwein and Leticia Polischuk as queen and princesses. With a large audience and with the jar full, the Beer Week is back. Starting at 4:00 p.m. last Saturday, thousands of people entered the fairgrounds to tour it, appreciate the craft fair and do some shopping, in addition to visiting the children’s games, the food court or some of the many spaces created by the organization for the development of cultural proposals. The show grid will be made up of Catherine Vergnes and Lucas Sugo.

The Mayor, among other local and national authorities, was accompanied by the Secretary General of the Mayor, Fermín Farinha; the Minister of Housing, Irene Moreira; the Vice Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining, Walter Verri; national and consular representatives, as well as the members of the Departmental Government team.

“Let’s be great hosts”

In his speech, Mayor Olivera called on the sanduceros and those who visit us to enjoy “what in our opinion is the best party in the country.” “It is a great joy to have them in Paysandú in the 55th edition of the Beer Week, that they live the experience in the most intense way that they can live”, he emphasized. Likewise, he recalled that that last Beer Week of 2019 “no one would have imagined that this farewell would last over time”, with two years that were experienced intensely with the pandemic that kept us away from hugs.

“How many hugs were forbidden to us, how many kisses, gestures of affection we had to stop doing because of the pandemic”; but “the pandemic is over, we have terminated the health emergency,” the mayor celebrated. “It is a great joy to have them in Paysandú,” said Olivera, who also called to enjoy “the hugs, the kisses, to be able to toast.” Olivera said that the sanduceros are “privileged” to have visitors, “hopefully it will be a great week, let’s take advantage of the time intensely, let’s enjoy with friends, with family, with those who visit us; let us be great hosts with those who chose Paysandú in Tourism Week”.

After the oratory part, the sanducera Catherine Vergnes took the stage to start the first artistic show that culminated in the performance of Lucas Sugo. On the first day, more than 24,000 tickets had already been sold.
