The Paraná Department of Education reported this Saturday morning (8) that the holding of the National High School Exam (Enem) in Rio Bonito do Iguaçu was suspended, due to the destruction caused by the passage of a tornado on Friday night (7).
THE first day of exams takes place on Sunday (9) across the country. The second day is scheduled for November 16th, the following Sunday.
The suspension follows the protocol for severe weather events of the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (Inep)the authority responsible for applying Enem.
A city in the center-south of Paraná, about 400km from Curitiba, Rio Bonito do Iguaçu has 14 thousand inhabitants. The two state schools in the municipality had their infrastructure compromised and are undergoing inspections, according to the Paraná government.
Civil Defense data indicate that even 90% of the area urban area of Rio Bonito do Iguaçu suffered some damage to its infrastructure.
The Secretary of Education of Paraná, Roni Miranda, said he had spoken with the president of Inep, Manuel Palácios, who made himself available to help students and organize Enem on a new date.
So far, there is no information about the suspension of Enem in other affected municipalities in Paraná, like Guarapuava. According to data from Inep, there are 195,870 confirmed participants in the exam in Paraná.
The Enem notice itself provides that the participant prevented from attending the test due to weather or infrastructure problems has the right to request the exam to be reapplied.
