The former president of Brazil Jair Bolsonaro, who is currently in the United States, will return to his country on March 30, as announced by the president of the Liberal Party (PL) Valdemar da Costa Neto.
«Bolsonaro will disembark in Brasilia at 7:30 a.m. We are waiting for you, captain, to fight together for a fairer and freer Brazil,” Costa Neto said on social media.
Former President Bolsonaro settled in the United States at the end of December, before Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva took office on January 1, after winning the October elections.
Bolsonaro’s return comes amid a notorious scandal over a package of jewelry, valued at $75,000, that he received from Saudi Arabia and that entered Brazil irregularly.
The jewels were delivered this Friday to the public bank Caixa Económica Federal, after the Court of Accounts of the Union (TCU) ordered their delivery in five days.
