In this regard, the Nation’s Minister of Education, Jaime Perczyk, stated: “thousands of schools They will incorporate one more hour of class. We believe that it is very important because we need our children to have more time at school to be able to learn more language and more mathematics.which are two areas that involve many others”.
And he added: “we also maintain that more time implies more quality because, although it is not the only variable that we must attend to, that hour that we add means more time with books, with technology and with trained teachers.”
Likewise, the minister considered that it is necessary to implement: “a series of policies to improve children’s learning and resolve the loss we have had in the pandemic, but also the deterioration we had after the previous four years where it was deliberately underfunded The education”.
Under this line, the Government promised to finance the addition of a fifth hour of class in the school day, which, according to the Chief of Staff, Juan Manzur, the “contribution of a fund” will serve to cover the expenses of the activities schoolchildren who adhere to the extension of the day.
In total, the Executive Power will allocate an investment of 18 billion pesos, to pay 80% of the extra that should be granted to teachers for the new workload; the remaining 20% will be assumed by the jurisdictions.
What will the new school day be like?
With the addition of an hour to the school day, in the institutionsthey would go from having 720 to 950 hours of class per year, that is, the equivalent of 38 more days of class.
Regarding implementation, although each jurisdiction will decide what is most convenient, the proposal is that the shift be brought forward, so that the morning shift would be from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and the afternoon shift would be from 1:00 p.m. :00 to 18:00.
