Accusing him of having publicly reported his guilt in the sexual abuse denounced by a woman, in addition to having violated the right to due process, the priest Roberto Valderrama filed a protection appeal against Archbishop Fernando Chomalí. The judicial action was rejected by the Court of Appeals of Concepción.
“We believe that the ruling, in the case of my client (Roberto Valderrama), recognized a situation that occurred, in fact, in which the archbishopric was ordered from the Vatican to carry out the procedure again for having violated due process That was the essence and foundation of our protection appeal,” lawyer Antoine Peñaloza told Radio Biobío.
And it is that the appellate court argued that the Archbishopric of Concepción complied with the duty to inform the public of a case of public connotation, and regarding due process, the sentence reports that there is a resolution from last August —dictated by the Vatican — instructing the reopening of the investigation against the priest Valderrama, who was separated from his work at El Sagrario Parish.
