Cuevas leaves the prison
Alejandra Cuevas Morán left the Santa Martha Acatitla women’s prison this afternoon, a few minutes after the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) ordered her release.
“I hope that women who have been abandoned by their families, by society and by public defenders, can recover the air that freedom gives us,” Cuevas Morán told the media.
“Since I entered, I realized that all women here are invisible, no one has a voice. Together with you, we managed to make the cases visible and we will achieve their release, ”she stressed after leaving prison.
Cuevas Morán highlighted the gratitude he has for “the journalists committed to the truth, who despite revenge and threats, have investigated my case.”
“I express my gratitude to all the people who have accompanied me and my children. His empathy has been a great lesson for me and my children. Prisons are full of human beings who could be free,” she said. “I want to hug my mother and my children, to whom I pay a great tribute,” he added before leaving for his home.
“Thanks to the journalists and civil society, who without knowing me, have supported me and my family. I am certain that without you, the Attorney General of the Republic, Alejandro Gertz Manero, would have buried me forever in jail with a crime he fabricated,” said Alejandra Cuevas.
“From now on I want to communicate my interest in being received by the head of state, Andrés Manuel López Obrador,” she explained.
