Nine provinces are this morning under alerts for storms, snowfall and intense winds with speeds between 60 and 85 kilometers per hour, with gusts that can exceed 120 kilometers per hour, the National Meteorological Service (SMN) reported this afternoon.
The agency issued yellow alerts for storms this Monday and Tuesday, which may be accompanied by intense gusts, strong electrical activity and occasional hail for several towns in the provinces of Corrientes and Entre Ríos.
In these areas, the values of accumulated precipitation can be between 40 and 70 millimeters, so the SMN recommended that residents avoid outdoor activities, do not take refuge near trees and electricity poles that may fall, and avoid taking out the garbage. so as not to prevent water from draining off.
In addition, short-term warnings apply – valid until mid-morning – due to heavy rains for the city of Buenos Aires, the suburbs of Buenos Aires and several districts in the interior of the province of Buenos Aires such as Brandsen, Cañuelas, Chascomus, Lobos, Navarro, Suipacha, Lezama. and Mercedes, among others.
As for the yellow alerts for snowfall, which will cause the accumulation of between 60 and 80 centimeters, they reach Chubut, Neuquén and Río Negro.
For their part, the provinces of Catamarca, Mendoza, Neuquén, Salta and Tucumán are under yellow alert due to intense winds and Zonda wind, with speeds of between 60 and 85 kilometers per hour and gusts that can exceed 120 kilometers.
For these areas, the SMN recommended securing objects that could be thrown by the wind, staying away from trees since the force of the wind could break some of their branches, and keeping houses closed as hermetically as possible.
